Hospitality and Visitor Economy Industry Career College

Aged 14?

Instead of staying at school for years 10 and 11, you will have the chance to learn the practical skills you need for employment in the Hospitality and Visitor Economy industries, whilst continuing to study for GCSEs in Maths, English, Science and Computing at College.

You will become part of our 14-16 College and you will study:

GCSE subjects

Years 1 and 2

  • GCSE English
  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE Science (Year 1) and Additional Science (Year 2)
  • GCSE Computing
  • Citizenship (Year 2)
  • OCR Cambridge National Business and Enterprise Level 1 (Year 1)
And either:
NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Food and Cookery (Year 1) and City & Guilds Tech Bac in Food and Cookery at Level 2 (Year 2)
  • Basic food preparation and cooking
  • Customer service in the hospitality industry
  • Maintenance of a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
BTEC First Diploma Level 1 and 2 in Travel and Tourism
  • Investigate companies in the travel industry
  • Participating in leisure activities
  • Developing customer service skills

Year 3

You will progress into the main College cohort where you can study the following courses:

BTEC Professional Cookery and Food and Beverage Service - Level 2 Course details
BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 in Travel and the Visitor Economy Course details
