Access to Higher Education Diplomas are a well established set of qualifications designed for those who do not have the UCAS points to enter a university level course but who do have life experience and a willingness to learn.
The courses are designed for mature learners (19+) and will prepare you for a wide range of studies at university level. They also build confidence and develop skills in maths, English, ICT, research and study skills.
The minimum entry requirements for the Access to Higher Education courses are GCSE maths and English grade A*-C (new grading system: 9-4) and either experience working in the field of study (paid or voluntary) or completion of a Pre-Access course.
They are full time for up to 15 hours per week for one academic year.
You may qualify for an Advanced Learning Loan to cover tuitions fees. If you are studying on an Access course, and you progress onto a Higher Education course immediately, you may not need to repay your loan. Please call 0151 353 4444 for more details or view this page.
Alison Griffin, Health and Nutrition at Hope University
"I returned to College so that I could pursue a career in an area that I have a passion for. I chose Hugh Baird College because of its great reputation, good variety of courses and brilliant location. I like the fast pace that we have been working at and the fact that a lot of it has been assignment based."
