Construction & The Built Environment

The Construction & The Built Environment department specialises in developing skills in carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, plumbing, wall and floor tiling and bricklaying.

We also train those who wish to work in the industry as Site Supervisors, Project Managers, Architects or Surveyors and many of our students studying on Level 3 programmes progress to university.

At Hugh Baird College, we have responded quickly to the demand for new skills in the building industry and our learners spend time ‘on-site’ or working in the community engaged in work experience activities.

The Construction & The Built Environment department has strong links with industry and many students progress to employment or apprenticeship programmes as a result. Tutors in the department are also experts in their field, so you can be sure you’re learning from someone who has worked in the construction industry.
