Science

The Science course we offer here at Hugh Baird College allows you to engage with active learning in a vocational context. This is recognised by employers, professional institutions and higher education providers alike.

The Science team have developed strong links with leading higher educational establishments with frequent visits, attendance at events and participation in university-led competitions and projects. These provide an exciting enrichment to the curriculum offer.

Our science course provides a pivotal role in promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) careers, an area expecting high growth in the UK, with roles within this sector being very well paid.

There are no formal qualifications for our Level 1 courses.

These study programmes have been designed to prepare you to progress to study at Level 2 or to employment. These programmes not only give an insight to your chosen vocational area, but also give you the opportunity to undertake work experience and other activities that will prepare you quickly to get a job or to move on to higher levels in your chosen field. These programmes also include the development on maths and English skills.

You will need to have successfully completed a relevant Level 1 course or have 4 GCSEs at grade G (new grading system: 1) or above or have industry related experience.

We will also work with you to help you develop maths and English skills.
