Sport & Outdoor Education

The Sport and Leisure industry covers a wide range of sectors such as sport and recreation, health and fitness and outdoor pursuits. At Hugh Baird College, we offer a range of courses from that will allow you to progress to employment in these sectors or on to university.

Our courses range from general sports coaching to football coaching; from gym instructors to personal training. You will be taught by industry experienced staff and you will benefit from our new state-of-the-art gym facility, Lifestyle Fitness.

We are also the only College in the Sefton and Liverpool areas to offer the BTEC Extended Diploma in Outdoor Education. Both this course and the Sport BTEC Extended Diploma are equivalent to three A Levels and enable you to progress to university.

There are no formal qualifications for our Level 1 courses.

These study programmes have been designed to prepare you to progress to study at Level 2 or to employment. These programmes not only give an insight to your chosen vocational area, but also give you the opportunity to undertake work experience and other activities that will prepare you quickly to get a job or to move on to higher levels in your chosen field. These programmes also include the development on maths and English skills.

You will need to have successfully completed a relevant Level 1 course or have 4 GCSEs at grade G (new grading system: 1) or above or have industry related experience.

We will also work with you to help you develop maths and English skills.
