Eric Jones

Hairdresser at Artizan Hair Bar

Eric came to Hugh Baird College with a clear vision that he wanted to progress in the world of Hairdressing.

He attended the Level 2 study programme in Hairdressing and secured the title of Student of the Year.

Eric said:

The course really helped me to realise my career goal and this was down to the things I learnt whilst studying. We obviously covered the hand skills and knowledge needed to become a good hairdresser, but we also learnt about customer service and how to become employable in the industry. We also undertook colouring and cutting training on actual clients once our tutors felt we were good enough. This was nerve racking, but the teaching team really helped us and supported us all the way.”
What I liked best about coming to College was working in the salon, meeting new people and taking part in hairdressing competitions. This increased my confidence and helped me believe in myself.”
One thing that also really helped improve my time at Hugh Baird College was the amazing support I got from the Learner Support Team. I’m Dyslexic, so I was provided with in class support and additional support during assessments.”

Eric's advice:

Follow your dreams, work hard and come to college to improve yourself. It’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do.”
