Chef de Partie at Liverpool Football Club

Kelly juggled family life to attend Hugh Baird College for two years and completed the Level 2 and Level 3 Professional Cookery and Food Service study programmes.

Kelly said:

I came to Hugh Baird College with no cooking experience and just wanted to learn how to make healthy meals for my young children. Once I started, i realised that I had found my calling and became more confident in myself and my ability in the kitchen."
Working with celebrity guest chefs like Nigel Haworth and Kenny Atkinson made me realise I could do this as a career. When I completed my Level 3, I applied for a job at Liverpool Football Club as a Commis Chef and I got it! I haven’t looked back and I am now Chef de Partie and love my job.”
The support I got from the tutors and staff was very helpful and made me more confident in my own ability.”
My highlights were work experience at Michelin-star restaurants and working with top industry chefs. I also really thrived on producing my own dishes to put on the L20 Restaurant menu.”

Kelly's advice:

Work hard and take all advice on board, learn more about your subject and write everything down. It is worth it in the end.”
