Traineeships for 16-24 year olds

Traineeships are short free training programmes which will allow you to progress to an apprenticeship, employment or further study at College. They are ideal if you are motivated to get a job but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for.

What topics/modules are covered?

  • Build your CV and get vital work experience
  • Improve your English and maths skills

What are the entry requirements?

  • You are aged 16-24 years and do not have a full Level 3 qualification (e.g. two A Levels)


  • You are aged up to 25 years and have an Education, Health and Care Plan or Learning Difficulty Assessment


  • Are currently employed
  • Have little or no work experience

What can I do if I complete this course?

After completing your traineeship you’ll be ‘work ready’, which means you will be better placed to move in to employment. Using your new experience you can apply for a range of jobs or apprenticeship training programmes that allow you to continue to study while working in a job and getting paid.

How many days of the week will I be studying?

3 days per week work experience with a local employer, 2 days per week in College.


18 weeks.
