Apprenticeship Details

This course is for those aged 16 and above who are wishing to undertake a career as a Beauty Therapist.

The ‘on the job training’ will enable you to develop the practical skills you need to perform some of the treatments on offer in salons, hotels and spas in the beauty industry. Whilst the ‘off the job training’ will develop the knowledge you will need to pass the online exams.

You will be required to meet with your assessor monthly to review your progress. You will also be required to keep a portfolio of evidence for the work you do.

Employment with a local salon or spa will be an essential feature of this apprenticeship. As part of this apprenticeship, you will also take part in the enrichment days to keep you up to date with current trends in the industry. 

  • Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
  • Provide body massage treatments
  • Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
  • Provide facial electrical treatments
  • Provide self-tanning services
  • Provide Indian Head massage
  • Carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
  • Provide stone therapy treatments
  • Aged 16+
  • You must be employed within a relevant environment and provide evidence that you have the skills, knowledge and behaviours required by the sector at Level 2.
  • You must demonstrate Maths and English skills at Level 1 or above in your initial Maths and English assessment.

Most apprenticeships take between 12 - 18 months to complete.

Yes, you will be paid by your employer for the duration of your apprenticeship. You will be paid at least the government’s minimum wage rate for apprentices, £3.70. A lot of employers pay their apprentices a higher hourly wage than the minimum rate.

This is ultimately up to your employers, but more than 90% of apprentices stay in employment after their course ends.
