Course Details

This T-level has been crafted in collaboration with construction industry employers to ensure that you gain the competencies and attitudes necessary for success in construction roles such as Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Civil Engineer, Site Surveyor or Construction Project Manager.

You will complete a minimum of 45 days of industry placement over the 2 year course, allowing you to develop real-life experiences in this industry, as well as make meaningful connections with established professionals and experts. This opportunity is unique to T-levels and gives you a strong head start in this competitive market in terms of progression.

The core content covers a whole range of topics related to the industry including:

  • Health and safety
  • Science
  • Measurement
  • Building technology
  • Information and data
  • Digital technology
  • Construction mathematical techniques
  • Design
  • Construction and the built environment industry
  • Sustainability
  • Relationship management
  • Commercial business
  • Project management
  • Law

Additional content covered for occupational specialists will also allow you to develop your problem-solving skills whilst working on a client brief. You will have the chance to design and develop construction projects whilst working together.

There is also a large focus on transferable skills which have been identified by the employers identified below. These include:

  • Applying a logical approach to solving problems, identifying issues, and proposing solutions
  • Communication skills (verbal, body language, group control, positioning)
  • Creativity
  • Critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Collaboration skills

This specialist course will also allow you to enhance your broader skills in literacy and numeracy, develop transferable skills in communication (working with real colleagues, customers, and clients) and undertake research and live project development work.

T-levels are recognised by Universities and hold a more substantial UCAS value than some A-levels or BTECs. A T-level is worth the equivalent of 3 A-levels. Due to the high level of industry experience you will receive, you would also be in a very strong position to move onto an Apprenticeship.
